Our experience with Boiseko Ikastola has been beyond our expectations. Miss Sarah, Irati, and Ander have been instrumental in transitioning our son into formal schooling. We are so happy to see that he feels loved and safe to learn with the staff. Their passion for education and ability to connect with each child is quite unique and very much appreciated. We still can’t believe how much he has learned this year. Car rides home are an adventure now, with follow up questions and stories about the days’ activities. We have been lucky enough to participate in fundraising and outside activities through the Ikastola. It has really let us see how great of a community we have celebrating our culture and long standing traditions. Ikastola isn't just a preschool, it is an integral piece of Basque culture that is unique to the United States. When our kids started to attend Ikastola, we became part of a community outside of the classroom. Our family is not Basque and we have been welcomed with open arms to the celebration and preservation of the Basque community. Native Basque (and Spanish!) speaking teachers enhance the learning environment and expand the children's world view. There is a great variety of lessons that all weaved together into a very impressive and coherent curriculum. From the daily Basque lessons to dance class, reading 'Jack and Annie' books that take the kids to far-off places and field trips that bring them close to their own community, Ikastola is a safe, warm, and welcoming place for preschoolers to grow. We're so happy to have found this family!
