We are happy to introduce you to our new Director of Boiseko Ikastola, Ane Goenaga Odriozola. Though she has not officially started with us yet, she is already working with next year's teachers to ensure a seemless transition as we begin school in mid-August and early September.
Ane Goenaga Odriozola
Director
Ane Goenaga Odriozola naiz, Haur eta Lehen Hezkuntzako irakaslea, eta gaur egun Pedagogiako gradua amaitzear nago. Honez gain, Eleaniztasun eta Hezkuntzako masterra daukat. Nire ibilbide akademikoa hizkuntzen irakaskuntzarekin eta kultur trasmisioarekin oso lotuta dago.
Nire garapen profesionalaren zati handi bat Estatu Batuetan igaro dut, eta batez ere Boisen. Hemen, Boiseko Ikastolan irakasle gisa aritu nintzen bi urtez, eta helduei ere euskara irakasten nien Basque Museum & Cultural Centerren. Guzti honek euskal diaspora barrutik ezagutzeko aukera eman dit, eta euskal idenditatea mantentzeko euskarak eta euskal kultura mantentzeak duen garrantziaz ohartu naiz.
Esperientzia horretaz gain, University of Idahoko gaztelaniako irakurle eta Euskal Herriko hainbat ikastoletan irakasle bezala aritu naiz lanean. Hezkuntzako etapa desberdinetan lan egiteak irakaskuntzarekiko dudan ikuspegian eragin handia izan dute, eta gaur egun ikasleen testuinguru eta beharretara egokitzeari garrantzi handia ematen diot.
Hizkuntzen irakaskuntza ikuspegi komunikatibo batetik ulertzen dut, eta horretarako, ikaskuntza esperientzia esanguratsuak eraikitzea ezinbestekoa dela uste dut. Horretarako, ikasleen parte-hartze aktiboa, konfiantza eta motibazioan oinarritzen saiatzen naiz.
Metodologikoki, ikasleen parte-hartze aktiboa sustatzen saiatzen naiz, esperimentazioan, jolasean eta eguneroko bizipenetatik abiatutako ikaskuntzan oinarrituta. Haurrak protagonista diren testuinguruak sortzea da nire helburua, galderen, esplorazioaren eta akatsak ikaskuntzaren parte natural gisa ulertuz.
Gaur egun, Boiseko Ikastolako zuzendaria naiz, eta ilusioz eta ardura handiz hartu dut eginkizun hori. Nire helburua da Ikastolaren hezkuntza proiektua sendotzen eta garatzen jarraitzea, euskararen eta euskal kulturaren transmisioa bermatuz, eta aldi berean, komunitatearekin batera hazten jarraituz.
Boiseko Ikastolan, euskararen eta euskal kulturaren bidez, haurrek nortasuna, konfiantza eta komunitatearekiko lotura garatzen dituzte; familiei gurekin batera bide berezi honen parte izateko gonbita luzatzen diet.

My name is Ane Goenaga Odriozola, and I am an educator with a background in pedagogy and multilingual education. I hold Bachelor’s degrees in Early Childhood and Primary Education, as well as a European Master’s Degree in Multilingualism and Education, and I am currently completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Pedagogy. My career is closely connected to language teaching, cultural transmission, and education in international contexts.
A significant part of my professional development has taken place in the United States, particularly in Boise. I worked as a teacher at Boiseko Ikastola for two academic years, while also teaching Basque to adults at the Basque Museum & Cultural Center. These experiences allowed me to understand the Basque diaspora firsthand and to appreciate the essential role that language and culture play in sustaining community identity.
In addition, I have worked as a Spanish lecturer at the University of Idaho, and in several schools of the Basque Country, in different educational stages. These diverse experiences have helped shape my teaching approach, allowing me to adapt to different learning contexts and student needs.
My teaching philosophy is grounded in a communicative approach, where language is a living tool and learning is built through meaningful experiences. I prioritize student participation, confidence, and motivation, creating safe and engaging learning environments where each student can develop their full potential.
Methodologically, I aim to encourage active student participation through experimentation, play, and learning from everyday experiences. My goal is to create environments where children are the protagonists, and where questioning, exploration, and mistakes are understood as natural parts of the learning process.
I have recently been named as Director of Boiseko Ikastola, a role that I take on with great enthusiasm and responsibility. My goal is to continue strengthening the Ikastola’s educational project, ensuring the transmission of the Basque language and culture while growing together with the community.
At Boiseko Ikastola, through the Basque language and culture, children develop a strong sense of identity, confidence, and connection to their community. I warmly invite families to join us and be part of this unique journey.
